3. WHERE WILL PHOTOS SESSIONS TAKE PLACE?
Photo sessions can be held either in my home studio workspace, in the client’s home, or another location as mutually agreed upon between the photographer and the client.
4. WHAT SORT OF LIGHTING DO YOU USE?
Natural light. Photo sessions can only be scheduled for times of day when there is sufficient natural light.
5. DO YOU USE FLASH?
No.
6. WHAT PHOTO FORMAT DO YOU USE?
Digital (RAW).
7. DO YOU USE ANY SPECIAL EQUIPMENT OTHER THAN YOUR CAMERA AND TRIPOD?
A black or white sheet for backdrop for the subject (provided by Jono David, the photographer). This sheet will help offset the subject in the image from unwanted background details.
8. HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY PHOTO SESSION?
For best photo results, clients are requested to appear “natural.” Clients are recommended not to use or wear any of the following items during a photo session: jewelry of any kind (including watches, rings, earrings or other body piercings), eye glasses, hats, hair accessories, cosmetics (including nail polish). NOTE: Unless medically necessary, clients should not use skin creams, lotions, or powders as they will interfere with the black or white backdrop and may spoil photo results.
9. DO CLIENTS HAVE TO POSE NUDE?
No, absolutely not. No one is required to pose in the nude. For best results, however, clients are recommended to pose in such a manner as to capture the impression of being nude. Ultimately, clients may pose as they wish, including nude or fully clothed.
10. DO YOU TAKE COLOR PHOTOGRAPHS?
No, but yes. I specialize in black and white photography -- that is the essence of BlackandWhiteYou. However, photos are taken originally in color digital imaging. Thereafter, the best images from the photo session will be converted to black and white.
11. IS ASSISTANCE REQUIRED WHEN PHOTOGRAPHING INFANTS AND SMALL CHILDREN?
Yes. When photographing infants and small children, parents or legal guardians are required to attend to any and all personal needs of the model.
12. DO YOU REQUIRE PARENTAL OR LEGAL GUARDIAN SUPERVISION DURING PHOTO SESSIONS?
Yes. When photographing any client (infants and children under 18 years of age, or other legal age of adulthood in the location of the photo shoot), parental or legal guardian supervision is required. Photo sessions will be suspended or cancelled if the legal supervisor is absent. For clients of legal adult age, no such supervision is required. For the comfort of the model, however, the accompaniment of a friend, partner, or family member is recommended.
13. DO YOU PHOTOGRAPH COUPLES AND FAMILIES OR ONLY SINGLE SUBJECTS?
Yes. However, the number of subjects in a single photo may be limited by space constraints. NOTE: More subjects in a photo generally slows down the photo session and ultimately reduces the number of overall images taken.
14. WHO DO YOU WORK FOR?
I work for myself.
15. DO YOU SHARE OR SELL MY IMAGES FROM PHOTO SESSIONS TO THIRD PARTIES?
No, absolutely not. Your privacy is paramount and will be strictly protected. Your images are strictly for your personal use in any way that you choose. If I should be interested in using one of your images for e.g. promotional purposes on the BlackandWhiteYou website or for any publication, I will not do so without securing the client’s expressed written permission beforehand. No exceptions to this policy will be made.
16. HOW DID YOU SELECT PHOTOGRAPHS FOR POSTING ON THE BLACKANDWHITEYOU WEBSITE?
Images appearing on the BlackandWhiteYou website have been posted with permission of each model who signed a model release form. (See question 18 for model release explanation.)
17. WILL MY PHOTOS BE POSTED ON THE BLACKANDWHITEYOU WEBSITE?
No, absolutely not -- unless you agree to sign a model release form. (See question 18 for model release explanation.)
18. WHAT IS A MODEL RELEASE (MR) FORM?
A model release form is a written and signed document that grants the photographer permission to publish a subject’s image. Restrictions may be applied to an MR such as limiting use of a model’s image. NOTE: Clients are not obliged to sign an MR. An MR will only be required if the client wishes to have an image(s) included either on the BlackandWhiteYou website collection or if the client agrees to use of an image in a future Jono David publication or exhibition. An MR otherwise has no bearing whatsoever on personal photo sessions.
19. WILL I BE PAID, OR CAN I GET A DISCOUNT, IF MY PHOTOS APPEAR ON THE BLACKANDWHITEYOU WEBSITE OR ARE USED FOR ANY OTHER REASON?
No.
20. HAVE YOUR PHOTOGRAPHS BEEN PUBLISHED?
Yes, but only images of models who have signed a model release form.
21. WHO OWNS THE PHOTOGRAPHIC COPYRIGHT OF THE IMAGES?
Jono David, the photographer. However, the client has full license in perpetuity to use their images as they see fit, privately or publicly, even for their profit without any royalty due to the photographer.
22. CAN I GET A REFUND IF I DON’T LIKE MY PHOTOGRAPHS?
No, not for simply disliking the images. However, in the unlikely event of a problem (e.g. technical), a second photo session can be scheduled at no additional charge to the client. Alternatively, a refund can be arranged (minus any production costs). NOTE: Because clients are able to initially review all images on a secure website prior to delivery of images, no refunds or reshoots will be offered once the images have been delivered. “Delivered” may be defined as either “already emailed (by ZIP FILE)” or “already hand-delivered” to the client.
23. DO I NEED TO SIGN A CONTRACT?
Yes. Clients are required to review a copy of the contract prior to photo sessions. Contracts will be signed in the mutual presence of the photographer and client. Two (2) copies of the contract will be signed and one (1) copy each will be maintained by both Jono David, the photographer, and the client. In some instances, clients may also be required to sign a model release form (see question 18).
24. DO YOU TAKE PORNOGRAPHIC IMAGES?
No. BlackandWhiteYou is not a pornographic studio. Please see ABOUT and PHOTOGRAPHS.
25. IS PRINTING AVAILABLE?
No, not at this time.
26. DO YOU OFFER MAKEUP AND/OR HAIR SERVICES?
No (see question 8).
27. DISAPPOINTED WITH THE PHOTO SHOOT RESULTS?
In the unlikely event that a client is unhappy with photo results, and provided the client has a reasonable dispute, a second photo session can be scheduled at no additional charge to the client. NOTE: Because clients are able to initially review all images on a secure website prior to delivery of images, no refunds or reshoots will be offered once the images have been delivered. “Delivered” may be defined as “received” by the client, either “already emailed” or “already hand-delivered” to the client.
